About this Event

Celebrate the release of Black, White, Colored. Featuring dramatic readings, a discussion, Q&A, and book signing with internationally critically acclaimed mother daughter duo and co authors Lauretta and LeeAnet alumni from Howard University. Black, White, Colored published by Amistad Harper/Collins celebrates HBCUs, family legacy, the first Black boarding school and shines a light on the fortitude of a historic Southern community who faced the first insurrection. The book has received rave reviews from such figures as Keith David, Hill Harper, Erika Alexander, Kirkus Reviews, Bakari Sellers and is currently featured in Essence and Flaunt magazine. Special guests to be announced…


This event is proudly supported by We Tell Our Stories, an inspiring initiative of the Theatre Arts Administration Program in the Department of Theatre Arts at the Howard University Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts. Guided by Dr. Dominique Douglas Hendricks, Professor Robin Y. Harris, and Professor Pat Parks, this program celebrates creativity, leadership, and the power of storytelling to shape our shared cultural experience.


This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of BLACK, WHITE, COLORED will be available for purchase before and after the event. Please note that this event is in person and will not be livestreamed.

Lauretta Malloy is a critically acclaimed performer, writer, vocalist, musician, and producer. She studied psychology, music and liberal arts extensively at Howard University and holds a BSc degree fromExcelsior University. She is certified in Genealogy Research from the University of Strathclyde and in film making and script writing from The National Film and Television School and is the chair of The Loncie Project Inc.

LeeAnét Noble played in award-winning theatre productions and her work as a performer and director has received critical acclaim. She graduated with honors from Howard University (BFA) and is certified in Organizational Behavior from IESE Business School. She teaches theatre history for George Washington University’s MFA classical acting program, courses at Morgan State University and is on senior staff and the artistic team at Shakespeare Theatre Company.

As a mother daughter duo their work has been performed around the world and inducted into over twenty museums worldwide.
