Black Rose Ball 2022

The Black Rose Ball is a gothic masquerade ball in aid of charity. This year, the ball will be held in a different location than usual - in the very unique chapel in the Victorian cemetery in York. This chapel is a rare design for the late Victorian period, inspired by the Greek Revival style, and based on the temple of Erectheus in Athens and built in white stone from Roche Abbey in Yorkshire. Set in beautiful cemetery grounds, it is a wonderful venue for the ball.

Music

Dance the night away to the best of Goth/ Dark Wave/ Dark Electro/ Mittelalter, provided by DJs Victoria Fenbane (Slimelight, Shattenspiel, Exit the Grey), Rosenkavalier (Tanz Macabre) and Vilkas (Shadowplay, Fimbulvetr) in the chapel itself.

Reading

Rosie Garland will present an exclusive reading of dark spooky tales at 7:15pm.

Black Rose Bazaar

The Black Rose Bazaar will be in the visitor centre, next to the chapel. Doctor Geof will be on hand to draw portraits; and there will be a small selection of stalls (details to be announced nearer the time).

Bar

The well-stocked bar will be provided by Louisianna's.

The ticket price includes one Black Rose cocktail on arrival.

Flowers & Event Styling will be by the amazing Fleur Adamo.

Dress code and arrival times

The dress code for the ball is formal masquerade, gothic / alternative.

Guests need to arrive before 7pm, when the gates will be locked. There will be no tickets for sale on the door.

Age 18+ Right of Admission reserved.

After Party

Guests are invited to head over to the after party, hosted by The Fulford Arms, from 11pm until 2am. Just show your ball ticket at the door. The Fulford Arms is a 6 minute walk from the cemetery.

Fundraising

All profits are donated to charity; which this year will the York Cemetery Trust itself.
