About this Event
This February at Desta, we’re hosting BLACK PROGRESS MTL: A Community Pulse-Check Utilizing Documentary Film with Stefan Verna—a free, hands-on workshop series running on February 14th, 21st, and 28th from 1-3PM.
Using only cell phones to capture everything, a small cohort of 6–8 participants will learn how to craft documentary stories that reflect how Black progress in Montreal is seen across generations—from millennials to baby boomers and everyone in between.
Guided by filmmaker Stefan Verna, the group will interview community members, share perspectives, and help shape a collective portrait of where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going. Space is limited, so interested participants are encouraged to apply early to be part of the group.
