RSVP by March 12 at https://forms.gle/gd8BQWmhtS5MwF8z7 Are you a Black parent or caregiver in Grand Rapids seeking connection and support from parents experiencing similar joys and challenges as you raise young people? Join us at Urban Core Collective (413 Hall St SE) on Saturday, March 15 for a Parent Cafe specifically designed by and for Black parents and caregivers. This event will explore parental resilience, support, and communication as ways for parents and caregivers raising children to create safety in their lives.
Snacks will be available, and you are welcome to bring your kids. We will have a partner to supervise play in our small children's area, but please consider bringing some of your child's favorite activities to help keep them busy! If you have questions, please contact Fredericka, the UCC education justice parent and family organizer, at [email protected].
*Please note that this event is specifically for folks who identify as Black. If you are interested in attending a Parent Cafe in the future, please reach out to Fredericka for future dates!*
What is a Parent Cafe?
A Parent Cafe is a supportive and judgment-free gathering where parents and caregivers can come together to share experiences, worries, and wisdom. These cafés are designed to:
-- Build community and reduce isolation.
-- Strengthen relationships and foster connections.
-- Enhance leadership skills and link families to resources.
-- Offer parents a space to focus on themselves.
