Young lovers Orfeu and Eurydice run through the favelas of Rio de Janeiro during Carnival, on the run from a hitman dressed like Death and Orfeu's vengeful fiancée Mira. Winner of both the Academy Award for best foreign-language film and the Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or, this retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice kicked off the bossa nova craze that sent hi-fis across America spinning.
