About this Event
We will meet at a minority owned coffee shop for guests to get refreshments and use facilities before embarking on a invigorating and stimulating tour of the city. Focusing on the social justice and black history of the area once known as Market Center, this guided tour of the Bromo Arts District, will give facts about the historic impact this area has had on the city and the nation. The information provided on this tour has been researched from the Baltimore city archives, Maryland center of history and culture and the Enoch Pratt free library. Some of the stops on this tour include old and new Lexington Market, Westminster Hall (gravesite of Edgar Allen Poe), the Hippodrome Theatre, the Eubie Blake Center, and the Mayfair Theatre. Our guests will walk away with a new perspective on the black history in Baltimore and the importance of a well-rounded understanding of history in this nation.
