About this Event
Grab a friend, your walking shoes and let’s explore muarls that tell some of Charlotte’s rich Black History in the Historic West End neighborhood.
- Learn more about Black History by stopping at 12-13 murals and one sculpture along our route
- Be inspired hearing about the stories behind the murals from artists that created the murals
- Be active and engaged in our public art community
This one hour and 15-minute guided ArtWalk starts at the Mosaic parking deck at 1601 E Trade St. Gather on the sidewalk area around 1:50 pm. Our walking route is approximately one mile and is being led by ArtWalks CLT and artists Abel Jackson and Dyair Steele. The ArtWalk ends at Five Points Plaza.
Suggested donation of $10 per person. Spaces are limited.

Abel Jackson is a prolific Charlotte artist with murals located in Uptown, NoDa, Camp North End and in many locations on the West Side. Jackson has a long history of creative work in Charlotte with specializations in airbrushing technique, incredible portraits, and a desire to illustrate forgotten history of Charlotte. Jamil Dyair Steele is a visual artist with strong roots in Historic West End. Steele is an educator and artist primarily using painting to specialize in portraiture, murals, and illustrations. Steele’s public artwork celebrates the culture and history of Charlotte’s West Side Community and his Black Lives Matter mural created in 2020 is now in the collection of the Mint Museum.
