About this Event
Join us for Black History Month: Legacy and Liberation- A Conversation with Angela Davis happening at Glide Memorial Church on February 26th, 2026 at 6:00 PM . Join us for an insightful discussion with the legendary Angela Davis as we delve into the rich history and ongoing struggles for Black liberation. This event promises to be a powerful exploration of her legacy, past and present, and the future of the Black community.
Angela Davis is a renowned American political activist and scholar whose work has centered on Black liberation, Pr*son abolition, and intersectional struggles against racism, sexism, and class oppression, inspiring global movements for justice. She was actively involved with the Black Panther Party and allied organizations in the late 1960s and early 1970s, collaborating on community organizing and defense campaigns that challenged systemic oppression and state violence.
Her relationship with the late Rev. Cecil Williams and GLIDE extends many decades into the past, starting in the Black Power Movement, which sought Sanctuary for the Revolution in the Church.
