About this Event
Join St. Louis ArtWorks for a special screening and dialogue of "The Spook Who Sat By The Door" by Sam Greenlee and directed by Ian Dixon. The book was published in 1969, followed by the film release in 1973. The movie is respectfully placed in the ethnic subgenre of Blaxploitation films that emerged in the early 1970s. In honor of celebration of Black History (Month) and the arts, join us for an evening of Black excellence in film and entertainment. We will have a special screening of the film and close with a thoughtful dialogue to discuss the film's content, messages, symbolisms, culture, etc. Drinks and light snack will be served.
Doors will open at 5pm with light entertainment and viewing of art work created by St. Louis Artworks apprentices and teaching artist. The film screening will start at 6pm.
