In celebration of Black History Month, Askari Sowonde~ Productions invites the public to a powerful and engaging evening titled "The Real Truth About the Black Cowboy."
This educational and cultural program challenges long-standing myths of the American West by centering the often-erased history of Black cowboys-skilled horsemen, ranchers, trailblazers, and community builders who played a critical role in shaping the nation.
Donald Jordan will emcee & speak as well as featured speaker Albert R. Harris who will lead the conversation, sharing historical insight, lived knowledge, and cultural truth about Black cowboy legacy and its lasting impact on American history.
The evening will also include dynamic entertainment featuring Julie Bland Latin Jazz, Elyon cultural fashions/ Kimberly Pergerson-Williams, young poet and storyteller Nora Sanna, Saxophonist Ric Alexander, Klassicman-Marvin Gaye tribute and more, celebrating Black creativity, artistry, and heritage across generations.
The event is open to the public and is designed for families, students, history enthusiasts, and lifelong learners seeking a meaningful Black History Month experience grounded in education, culture, and community.
