This year will feature a curated art show in our beautiful backspace and a night of hip hop featuring the Pop-Up Cypher which includes Akil the MC from Jurassic 5, Dinco D of Leaders of the New School, Kool Kim and Stars of Beyond!
The Pop-Up Cypher Tour offers a refreshingly innovative approach to live performances. Imagine a stage set up as a cozy living room, complete with couches, chairs, and a DJ setup that feels like home. The show kicks off with the DJ warming up the crowd, setting an intimate and energetic vibe.
Interactive Performance Concept:
DJ Prelude: The DJ starts the night, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere as the crowd settles in, feeling right at home.
Chapter 1 – The Arrival of Kool Kim: Suddenly, a doorbell rings, and Kool Kim from the UMCs enters the "living room." The crowd greets him warmly as he chats and engages in light banter about having a cipher at the house. Kim then humorously notes the messy state of the room and breaks into a song themed around cleaning up and getting things straightened out.
Chapter 2 – Stars Of Beyond Enters: The doorbell rings again, and in walks Stars Of Beyond. Immediately, there’s a noticeable tension – something’s off. When Kool Kim inquires, Stars Of Beyond shares their frustrations with the music industry within an engaging spoken narrative. This leads into a powerful performance of their song "The Plan" featuring Kool Kim, touching on their struggles and aspirations.
Chapter 3 – Dinco D Joins the Conversation: As the plan performance wraps up, the doorbell rings once more. Dinco D from Leaders Of The New School enters, catching the end of the heated discussion. Offering wisdom and perspective, Dinco D emphasizes the importance of thinking independently, leading directly into his vibrant performance of "Think How I Think."
Chapter 4 – Akil from Jurassic 5 Lights Up the Room: As the night progresses, Akil from the legendary Jurassic 5 makes his entrance. Known for his smooth delivery and insightful lyrics, Akil adds another level of depth and excitement, engaging with the ongoing theme and delivering a killer performance.
Dynamic Audience Participation: But the experience doesn't stop there. The "Pop-Up Cypher Tour" brings the audience directly into the action:
Live Cipher: At multiple points throughout the show, the artists will invite talented audience members on stage to join an impromptu freestyle cipher. Based on the current topic being discussed and performed, audience members will have the opportunity to spit their own verses alongside hip-hop legends in the comfort of our living room setting.
Park City Music Hall has a full bar and kitchen available on-site serving craft cocktails, delicious bites and more! Come hungry! The kitchen opens at doors and remains open until you see the "Kitchen Open" light go off.
