About this Event
Join us for a black history month celebration of the life of artist Jean Michel Basquiat. Join us as we learn about Basquiat's life, his unique art and then create our own art inspired by his dedication to self expression and equality.
Instructor Millicent Ansah will be reading a book about Basquiat and discussing his life, importance, and motivation as an artist. Instructor Imani Henderson will lead a self-portrait art craft inspired by Basquiat. Millicent and Imani will be leading the children in a shared session of their art. The discussion will also focus on Basquiat’s use of life to express and protest injustice, thus helping the children learn about how they too can use self-expression and art in their lives.
This workshop is for ages 3+ up!
