Black Friday is brought to you by the folks at Record Store Day. On this day we celebrate music in a way that only an Indie Record Store knows how... with limited edition releases curated just for the fans. Some of the releases are new, some are classics, and some yet are obscure and highly collectible. Yes, there are live shows and never before heard demos and outtakes. Each year is something different. These are great gifts for yourself or the vinyl lover in your life. For Black Friday we will open at 8AM - we are never allowed to hold any of these releases - they are FCFS - and limited to one per customer. This is the only fair way to do this since some of these titles will be very sought after and valuable.
FAQ
What titles will we be receiving?
Here is a link to the list of possible records we will receive - https://recordstoreday.com/SpecialReleasesWe are not guaranteed to get these even if we order them. The organizers try their best to allocate the titles fairly but sometimes quantities are very limited. Ignition will post a photo of one of each of the titles we receive in the week leading up to Black Friday so you can plan your day accordingly.
How early should I show up?
That is up to you! I guess it depends on how bad you want something. For Record Store Day this year we had some folks camp overnight for the VERY limited Wicked splatter release (that is now worth over $200). This year I am sure it will be cold so bring appropriate clothing. The cafe next door opens at 7AM for warm beverages. Usually an employee of ours is there earlier to let folks use our restroom, but no promises can be made at this point to arrival time of employees.
Will there be sales?
Yes, we usually do a sale on USED. Due to the collectability of the the BF titles these will not be on sale. Sales will be announced the week leading up to BF.
What should I bring?
Besides your wallet... a chair, warm clothing, food or drinks to share, an activity or game, a friend!!! Whatever you can think of to help pass the time in line. We encourage people to interact. We love to hear, "I made a new friend in line today." or " I learned something about (insert band here) that I didn't know and it blew my mind." The one thing you all have in common is your love for music. RSD and BF brings out the biggest fans/stans so don't be afraid to strike up a conversation with the person next to you. If you're an introvert (like me) you can always bring a chair and pretend to sleep, lol. Just joking, kinda.
Hope to see your smiling faces on BLACK FRIDAAAAAAY (said in metal vocal style).
