Black Dads (stageplay)
Trigger Warning: Conversations of sexual assault and images of violence.
Black Dads is a story about four childhood friends who are now adults and fathers. They all have their separate journeys as black fathers who have to experience the joys, dramas and pain of living in a cruel world where black men are targeted. Now they're navigating through life dealing with internal matters, women, Pr*son, death all while maintaining their own sanity and brokenness to be there for their kids and families.
This show stars Sheldon Bailey (Showtime's Shameless, Nickelodeon's Gameshakers, LeBron James Body Double) as Dex. Also starring 2021 HAPA award winner, Tyrone DuBose (TVone's Unsung narrator) as Zeus, a man ready to make amends with his son after missing 30 years of his life.
This show depicts everything black dads have to go through in life and in the world. Marriage, Mac Daddies, Incarceration, Poverty, Baby Momma Drama, Prostitution, Adoption, Sexual Abuse. There is a TONS of laughter blended in. This show has it all plus more. This is a kid-friendly show with some adult topics that will impact those of all ages. An ode to black fatherhood.
Ticket info: Please have a vax card, and/or have a negative Covid test within 72 hours before showtime to be seated first. There are rapid same day testing. Bring your masks with you to enter the theatre. You can take them off once seated.
