Black Creek is one of the most serene and beautiful kayaking experiences you will ever enjoy in the Hudson Valley. Nestled in the wetlands of Highland, NY this winding stream will bring you past amazing sights and historical places.
Here’s How it Works:
You can take the 8:45am Metro-North train or drive to meet us at the Poughkeepsie train station at 10:48am. (specific meeting instructions will be sent when you register)
Your guide will meet you at the station and bring you to the Black Creek Hudson Valley Kayaking Trip
Along the way we will stop for lunch. Bring your own or order from a local shop.
Before departure we will stop by a local farm stand for fresh berries, veggies and fruits (and maybe hard cider!).
Space is limited to 6 people.
You will be back on the 5:50pm train at the latest.
COVID-19 Protocols: In accordance with current city and state protocols vaccination status is not mandatory for this event. However, we do ask that participants act in a responsible manner and do not attend if feeling ill, showing symptoms or have been recently exposed. Mask wearing is optional unless the venue or city has mandated that. Everyone should respect the comfort levels of others as we transition into this next phase of socializing in the Covid era.
This event is nonrefundable. If you have tested positive for Covid and cannot attend, we will do our best to provide you with credits to select future events with a copy of your positive test results. Please note that due to the cost involved in some activities credits may not be used for the event you missed.
About the Black Creek Hudson Valley Kayaking Trip
Start to finish is a 3 mile round trip. (approx. 3 hours including a stop for lunch)
Beginners are welcome but you must know how to swim or at least tread water. Upper arm strength will be needed.
There is very little current in Black Creek and it is not very deep. Most of the time you can see the bottom.
You will need to sign a waiver before getting in the kayak.
What to bring:
2 liters of water
sunblock
lunch if not ordering from local deli
What to wear: Sneakers or water socks are recommended. Towel, clothes you don’t mind getting wet. Dress for the weather.

What if it rains? The trip is non refundable unless canceled due to inclement weather. We normally make the determination the night before if there is any indication of rain.
Can I come alone? Yes, 98% of those attending this event normally register on their own.
How will I find the group? We will send you a confirmation email with exact locations, contact info and names of those who are hosting the event when you register. We will send follow up emails as we get closer, usually the night before or morning of.
