About this Event
This is an opportunity to try your hand at urban photography. The event will be relaxed - no previous experience of photography is needed - just bring along your smart phone or camera.
Tom Hicks is the artist behind the documentary photography project Black Country Type. His work explores the post-industrial landscape of the region, focusing on words, typography, handmade lettering and signs.
His work has been published and exhibited widely, most recently in the photobook (The Modernist, 2023). His work has been featured by the BBC, The Guardian and Dezeen Magazine.
NB: Walk will be approximately 2 hours in length - this is an outdoor event and is at the mercy of the weather, please dress accordingly. Children must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.
The walk will start and end at the entrance to The Way Youth Zone, School St, Wolverhampton WV3 0NR.
This event has been commissioned by Transport for West Midlands as part of the Cycling for Everyone initiative. The Black Country Type project emerged from a series of freeform bicycle rides and walks across the region.
