About this Event
Sunday, February 22 | 11:00 AM
Location: St.Elmo Springdale
Black Coffee is a Black History Month celebration centered on coffee, culture, and community. At the heart of the event is an intimate, guided coffee tasting (aka cupping) focused on African-origin beans sourced from four local roasters:
- JuneBug Coffee
- Spokesman
- Flora
- Super Thing
This guided experience will be paired with a thoughtful conversation led by Caesar, a Black queer woman working in the coffee industry, who will speak on the history of coffee in Africa and the role of Black culture in today’s coffee world. Each participating roaster will also share insight into the beans they’ve provided, including sourcing, farms, and flavor profiles.
Cupping Tickets
- $12 per person
- Limited to 20 tickets to keep the experience intentional and conversational
- Includes participation in the guided cupping with all four roasters
- 100% of cupping ticket proceeds will be donated to a local nonprofit supporting the Black community in Austin (organization to be announced)
Community Event (Open to the Public)
In addition to the cupping, Black Coffee will feature:
- Black-owned vendor market
- Live DJ
- Big Lou's Bakery Pop Up
- Specialty lattes
While the cupping is the heart of the event, everyone is welcome to come hang, connect, and celebrate Black culture in coffee and beyond.
Space for the cupping is limited — grab a ticket early if you’d like to participate in the guided experience.
