A youth‑centred event in celebration of Black History Month. This program brings together Chess & STEM education with cultural celebration to engage kids, preteens, and teens (ages 7–17) from Edmonton’s African‑descent communities.

👥 Target Audience
- Kids, preteens, and teens (ages 7–17)
- Edmonton-based African descent communities
- Schools, after-school programs, community groups
- Parents and guardians interested in chess and STEM education
Expected attendance: ~ 40 youth (plus parents/guardians)
What to Expect
A. Chess Tournament
- Only 12 spots available — pre‑registration required
- Format: 3 rounds, Swiss‑style pairing with clock
B. STEM Innovation Zone
- Only 8 spots available — pre‑registration required
- Activities: Beginner coding challenges & algorithm puzzles
C. Cultural Showcase
- History of Black communities in Alberta
- Tribute to historical Black inventors and innovators
D. Awards Presentation
- Presented by the Africa Centre
E. Food & Refreshments
- Light meals and snacks provided
