Join Nikiea, an experienced book designer and storyteller, for Black Book Designers Pilot Masterclass: for DIY Authors & Book Designers, a hands-on workshop designed to empower the next generation of diverse design voices in the publishing world.

What to Expect:
Expert Guidance: Learn directly from Nikiea and other seasoned Black designers who are shaping the future of publishing.
Foundations in Book Design: Covering everything from typography basics to creating captivating covers and layouts. (Software reviewed: GoogleDocs, Microsoft Word, Canva Pro and Adobe InDesign)
Hands-On Projects: Engaging in practical design challenges that mirror real-world publishing and printing scenarios, especially book margin setup.
Networking Opportunities: Connect with peers, mentors, and potential collaborators who share your passion for storytelling and design.
Inspiration and Insight: Gain insider tips on breaking into the book industry, overcoming self-publishing challenges, and building a unique voice in your design aesthetic.

- Date & Time: December 20th from 6-8pm
- Location: East Baltimore Historical Library
- Cost: The class fee is $65, payable on the day of the event. We also encourage an additional $10 donation to support the East Baltimore Historical Library—your contribution helps preserve local history.
- Materials Needed: Bring your laptop or notebook, and we’ll provide the rest! Important note: You do not need a laptop to participate. We will provide a practice laptop for sharing.
