A common misconception in society suggests that women are less logical or rational than men, often because their achievements in fields like debate don’t receive the recognition they deserve. We’re here to break down this myth, standing by our belief that women are equally determined, insightful and proactive as men.With our country having an almost 50:50 ratio of male and female population, we believe this equality should be reflected across all sectors. To promote gender equality, the IER Debating Club successfully hosted three seasons of the National BP Debate Tournament called "50-50" in the last three years. This year, we’re making it more grand. With the theme of "Pacing Towards Equality," IERDC invites you to the Open British Parliamentary Debate Tournament named 50-50: Season 4.0!
Here, we celebrate equality in every aspect of the tournament. From the adjudication panel to debate teams, tab team, equity team and motion committee, each component of this tournament will feature an equal number of male and female participants. Excited to join? Here are the rules:
