Speaker Bios:
Joshua practices complex commercial and intellectual property litigation at Boies Schiller Flexner. He represents institutions and individuals at arbitration and in California and federal courts in contract, fraud, economic interference, and trade secret cases. He has extensive experience counseling clients through all phases of litigation, including pre-litigation and discovery. Prior to the practice of law, Joshua worked on high-value offshore energy development projects in the U.S., India, South Africa, Singapore, and Brazil as a USCG-licensed with merchant officer. Concurrent to Joshua’s practice of law and oceangoing experience, he served 15 years in the U.S. Navy Reserve. His military experience includes a variety of roles within the U.S. Transportation Command and Military Sealift Command. Joshua is active in the pro bono legal community and supports several LGBTQ+ and veteran causes, including BizVets LA.
Shawn is a seasoned insurance professional with extensive experience in supporting large companies with their property & casualty and employee benefits insurance needs. He currently serves as a Senior Director at Willis Towers Watson (WTW) in Los Angeles, California, and has worked with WTW for over ten years. His expertise spans various industries, providing customized solutions to meet clients' risk finance needs and focusing on supporting M&A investment activities. Before his tenure at WTW, Shawn held executive roles at Crystal & Company, Arthur J. Gallagher, Lockton Companies, and Brown & Brown, where he honed his commercial property, casualty, and health insurance skills. Prior to transitioning to the commercial sector, Shawn served as an F-16 fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force. Additionally, he holds certifications as an airline transport pilot (ATP) and certified insurance counselor. Shawn has also been actively involved in the Jonathan Club since 2010.
