In Acts 17, the Jewish leaders in Thessalonica exclaimed, "Paul and Silas have turned the rest of the world upside down, and now they are here disturbing our city!" The early disciples knew the true story: The world was already upside down and Jesus came to right it in a revolutionary and unexpected way! Jesus' teachings often were the opposite of what people anticipated, as they wanted him to lead military and political revolution against their Roman oppressors and end all suffering. Yes, he came to usher in a new Kingdom, but one entirely different than the one they expected and hoped for. His was a Bizarro Kingdom, and now you and I are part of it! Today, we'll tune back into the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7:21-23.
