BOP STOP is excited to welcome the B.I.T. Duo (consisting of Italian pianist Manuela Pasqui and saxophonist Danielle Di Mayo) as they celebrate the music of Giacomo Puccini. On the occasion of the 100th year anniversary from Puccini’s death, Pasqui has been working on composing an original concert that translates the classical compositions of Puccini into a contemporary jazz revision. This performance is organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago and the Consulate of Italy in Detroit.
This concert is free to attend, but advance registration is recommended. This event will not be livestreamed.
---------------------
What happens when improvisation meets 19th century opera? And what when jazz marries Puccini's music? Something unique happens, something you can discover by listening to this concert.
The immortal melodies of one of the greatest and most significant opera composers of all time tied to the sensitivity of two modern improvisers. This concert is a tribute to Giacomo Puccini, on the centenary of his death; an avant-garde composer musically and communicatively, who, at the turn of two centuries, represented the Italian Opera.
