About this Event

1.15 pm - 2.45 pm - The state of care

For years, there have been accounts of mistreatment of those in care in care homes, hospitals, and in their own homes, and sidelining of their families. But this was more pronounced during the Covid pandemic, as Covid inquiries have heard. This debate will look at how we treat our elderly and vulnerable, the role the state currently plays and whether or not it does this effectively.

3.15 - 4.45 - Should Britain Secularise?

Countries such as the US, France, Mexico, India, and Turkey all include a secular approach in their constitutions, whereas in the UK prayers in the Christian tradition are said each morning in Parliament and 26 bishops from the Church of England sit in the House of Lords. Should more be done to separate church and state and promote religious tolerance?
