Our Wednesday walks include a lunchtime pub stop. Requirements for meals from the pub menu are usually requested and ordered before the start of the walk by the leader. Walkers who prefer to take a picnic lunch are welcome to do so and the leader will have a place designated for this somewhere near the pub, in the village, or in the area where we are stopping for lunch.
This is a moderately challenging 8-mile linear walk with a few steep inclines and will include a pub lunch stop at the Swallow's Nest in Romsley.
Catch the train from Birmingham New Street, depart 9.15 am., arrive Barnt Green 9.42 am. Be sure to catch the Redditch bound train, and NOT the Bromsgrove bound train (the train normally departs from platform 12b). Please note - the walk leader will be catching the train at Longbridge station. Return journey: No. 63 bus via A38 Bristol Road South to Birmingham New Street station.
Please note that this is a linear walk, making use of public transport; and is not designed to use of your own car unless you are arriving for the pub lunch only.

The walk starts from Barnt Green station and continues through Lickey Hills Country Park up to the highest point at Beacon Hill. We then continue along the North Worcestershire path, across the Waseley Hills and on to Romsley. After lunch we walk a section of the Monarch's Way to reach Gannow Green, Frankley for our return bus home. The walk distance before lunch is approximately 5.5 miles, followed by a further 2.5 miles in the afternoon. There are no toilet facilities at Barnt Green station, but there will be opportunities for breaks during the walk at the two visitor centres we pass en route.
