Are you interested in talking about death in a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space? Join us for Birmingham’s first official Death Café —an open gathering where we can share tea, conversation, and curiosity about life’s most universal topic: Death.
Death Café events are hosted in communities all over the world. Their purpose is simple:
“To increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.”
At a Death Café, people come together to eat cake, drink tea, and discuss death — openly, honestly, and without agenda. There are no lectures, experts, or prescribed themes — just a relaxed space to connect and reflect on what it means to live and die well.
The event is free, with drinks and snacks available for purchase at Cha House.
All are welcome. No RSVP required.
What to Expect
*A group-directed conversation about death and dying — not a grief group or therapy session.
*A respectful, confidential space where all perspectives are welcome.
*A volunteer-organized event, not for profit, simply meant to make space for real conversations.
This is not: a professional grief service or counseling space; a lecture or religious meeting; about fixing anyone’s beliefs or experiences. It is simply a place to listen, share, and be human together.
This gathering is being hosted by volunteers with Birmingham Community Deathcare, a collective of local death doulas, end-of-life advocates, and community members committed to normalizing conversations about death and dying.
