About this Event
Hello everyone! This event is part of the Youth Climate Ambassadors (YCA) program. YCA is a program to help teenagers become more involved with climate change. We were passionate about saving marshes, so after a lot of volunteering and research, we have decided to host a group to come to the marshes with us. Join us at Redwood Creek at 2:30 pm on April 13th to learn more about marshlands and the animals that live there. We will also be improving the environment by removing trash from the creek.
Accessibility considerations include: Bending, walking, hiking on uneven and steep terrain, and being outside for the entire length of the event.
Waivers/Registration: All volunteers attending the workday must be registered individually and have approved the online waiver through this Eventbrite page. Youth under 18 must have their legal guardian approve the waiver on their behalf. Volunteers age 12 and under require an accompanying adult.
Parking: Park at the far end of the parking lot behind Carl's Jr. at Veterans Blvd. and Main St. There is also metered street parking in the area. Do not park in the Kaiser Emergency Room parking lot.
Transportation: Bike racks can be found on the southwest corner of Kaiser Hospital. If you are looking at the Emergency Department lobby, the bike racks will be 150 ft to your right -- across from the yellow curb for passenger loading/unloading. The Jefferson Ave & Marshall St stop on SamTrans Route 270 is about a 6-minute walk (0.3 miles) from the meeting location. The Redwood City Transit Center is about a 12-minute walk (0.6 miles) from the meeting location.
Meeting Space: We will meet at the far end of the parking lot behind Carl's Jr. at Veterans Blvd. and Main St. at a new restoration site along Redwood Creek. It is across the street (Veterans Blvd) from our usual location. There are no public restrooms or water fountains at the restoration site, but there are several businesses within walking distance. Please prepare accordingly.
