Join me at Kensington Metropark for a beautiful spring day and a fun learning experience. Park & meet at the Kensington Nature Center parking lot.
6:00-7:00 - We will hike 1.75 miles on a gravel/dirt trail loop around Wildwing Lake. Along the way you will learn about the spring flowers in bloom along the trail and feel like a Disney Princess/Prince as the little birds come to eat seed right right out of your hand! You will also learn about the various birds as well. (Seed will be provided for you)(Feeding of the small birds is permitted by the park)
7:00-8:00 - After our hike and legs are warmed up time to break out the bikes! We will ride the 10ft wide paved trail, 8.5 miles around the sparkling Kent Lake. This trail has some hills so be sure to know how to shift your gears to make your ride more enjoyable (If you're not sure how Heather will be happy to help) No-Drop ride means we don't leave anyone behind and occasionally stop to collect all of the riders.
There is a $10 day fee to enter Kensington Metropark or you can purchase the $40 year park pass that will admit you to ALL 13 beautiful Metroparks that you can visit anytime you want!
Required Gear:
•Your bike in proper working condition. Road, Gravel, MTB, Fitness E-Bikes are all welcome.
• HELMET no exceptions
• Flat Kit (spare tube, pump or CO2 inflator and tire lever or multi-tool with appropriate tools for your bike)
Recommended Gear:
• Rear red light, front white light
• Cell phone
• Water
CycleFit in Fenton can tune-up your bike and has all the supplies you need!
Ride Etiquette:
• Show up prepared and on time. Out of respect for others we will not delay the hike start for someone who is late. It is completely okay if you are familiar with the route and have a plan to catch up. In other words, if you are late plan to find us on the route.
• We share the trail with walkers and bikers so please call out traffic: "Walker Up" and/or "Biker up." When you hear this called out it is your responsibility to move to the side of the trail and ride single file. We pass the slower traffic on the left and it is considerate to either ring your bell or say "On your left" to the walker or biker you are passing.
Parking: Kensington Park Nature Center parking lot - 4570 Huron River Parkway, Milford, MI 48381
