About this Event
Please join Bird Friendly London for a guided birdwatching hike at the Coves Environmentally Significant Area!
We will hike through the south and western areas of the Coves. The path we will travel is not paved and is not accessible to wheelchair users. We recommend wearing bug spray and sunscreen, appropriate shoes for hiking and bringing a bottle of water. This hike will last approximately 1.5 hours, ending at the same spot. Binoculars will be provided. This event is open to beginners, advanced birders and families.
We expect to see migratory species as well as birds that live by the water at the Coves. This hike will focus on using iNaturalist to contribute photos to community science as part of the City Nature Challenge.
We will meet at the German Canadian Club parking lot located at 1 Cove Rd, London. This area is accessible by public transit from Springbank Drive. Free parking is available on-site.
Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.
Help track biodiversity in London by participating in the City Nature Challenge!
The CNC is an international community science event in which regions compete to make the most observations of nature. Community science data is useful for tracking trends in biodiversity and can inform local conservation management and land use planning. Participating in the CNC is a way for you to contribute to protecting wildlife and habitat in London!
From April 26th to 29th, make observations of wild plants, animals and fungi and upload the photos or sounds into iNaturalist.
