About this Event
Birding—unlike simple bird-watching—is about more than just looking. On this hike, you’ll practice identifying birds by sight and song, explore field markers and binocular tricks, and pick up tips from a seasoned avian biologist. Along the way, we’ll dive into migration ecology, invasive species, and local conservation efforts. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation of the avian world and practical know-how for attracting birds to your own backyard.
Please note: We'll meet at the Greenway Farms Dog Park and go from there.
About the teacher:
Laura Marsh has spent over 15 years immersed in birds and conservation. Her journey has taken her from tropical field research to founding an ethical ecotourism company and even giving a TEDx talk. After navigating burnout and mental health struggles, she’s now channeling her energy into writing a book and rocking out in her Green Day tribute band, Girl Day. Though her love for birds hasn’t wavered, her two boys remain less than impressed with mom’s nature obsession—much to her amusement.
