Ever wondered what the wild birds are saying?
Want to learn how to find more secretive and rare wildlife like roosting owls and preying sparrowhawks?
Do you know what the link is between ambulances/fire engines and birds? Random question right? But very relevant

Before we stepped away from our close connection with the wild, humans and birds understood each other perfectly. Birds would help humans to locate food and water, alert them to danger. In acknowledgement, humans would honour the land to ensure the birds had what they needed to thrive.

We still understand this language on a subconscious level. Why else is bird song so pleasing to us? When we start to remember their language, our time in nature can become so much richer.

For children, their hide and seek skills improve exponentially. For nature enthusiasts, birds will lead you to all sorts of interesting wildlife (if you get on their good side). For all of us, learning bird language can trigger a deep remembering in us, of skills we all once possessed but lost long ago. As a result, tuning into birds can help to support our wellbeing, encourage us to nurture the homes of our feathered family as we did before and help us to remember who we are.

In this half day workshop, you will be led by Lauren, an animal behaviourist, ecologist and experienced nature connection facilitator. You will learn the different types of bird calls and what they mean. how to tell the useful birds from the trickster birds, the “shapes” of the calls and what they tell you and the pace of the language.

The day will be spent outside. Although there will be some walking, a great deal of understanding bird language comes in mindful awareness. We will be going slowly and using sit spots. You will probably get cold so please bring things to keep warm. I recommend a flask of tea, lots of layers, a sit mat and a hot water bottle if needed.

Further details such as meeting location will be sent on booking.
