Class date is May 7th from 6-9pm. Field date is Saturday, May 11 from 8:30am to 11:30am at Clarks Creek Nature PreserveBirds are everywhere! There are probably 20-30 species that visit your yard regularly depending on the time of the year. How many can you identify by sight? By sound? We will start the class learning some basic skills for identifying birds and have a brief introduction to avian biology and the families regularly found in the Carolinas. Since birds are often heard before they are seen, learning basic songs of common birds can be challenging but very rewarding. We’ll see how many you already know and learn a few new ones. You’ll learn how to become a community scientist with tools and programs developed by the National Audubon Society and Cornell’s Lab of Ornithology.
