Celebrate Birch and their fresh and clean tasting  sap and other birch flavours and spring wild foods
About this Event

Come and spend an exciting day outdoors, learning how to tap birches in spring in a simple, low tech, and sustainable way to enjoy their fresh and clean tasting, healthful  sap.  Find out about making birch sap syrup and other early spring treats, and discover many more of the beautiful wild edibles growing in Edinburgh now. Finally, gather around a fire to prepare a wild early spring meal and enjoy some tasty foraged foods and drinks.

This four hour foraging event will include some steep and muddy walks, discussion of foraging laws and ethics, practical instruction in how to tap birch trees for sap, identification of other edible early spring plants and fungi, fire making, food preparation and a foraged meal to sample some wild foods and drinks . (Should weather make fire cooking impracticable, we will enjoy a wild food picnic instead)
