BIPOC Arts 2nd Cohort Class Graduation
Come join the Phoenix Center for the Arts and our BIPOC Arts partners, Cahokia, and Lights Camera Discover, as we celebrate the achievements of our 1st Cohort class of BIPOC Arts Teaching Artists! These artists have acquired curriculum knowledge and sustainable teaching skills in Creative Aging and Youth Art, and they are now prepared to actively contribute to their communities, taking a forward-facing approach to teaching the Arts.
BIPOC Arts is an educational and economic development program conceptualized by the visionary CEO of the Phoenix Center for the Arts, Sandra Bassett, and implemented with Melissa Bryant and our partner organizations. This initiative is designed to offer artists:
1) A valuable, actionable, and practical education to learn arts education concepts and pedagogy. Creation of a 6-8 week arts curriculum in Creative Aging and Youth Arts.
2) Mentorship with a professional teaching artist to provide career advice and guidance.
3)Paid, Professional development opportunities, including co-learning experiences with other artists, as well as the chance to teach their own classes in the community.
