About this Event
As part of Scottish Bioeconomy Week, the Bioeconomy Cluster Builder is delighted to mark the launch of Biotech Innovators with a event.
The challenges faced by university spin-outs and early stage companies are substantial regardless of the sector they operate in. However, the complex, capital intensive challenges encountered when building a successful biotechnology based operation are both distinctive and significant. From sourcing laboratory and scale up facilities through to engaging the right personnel and securing regulatory approval, each step of the journey presents potential barriers to innovators in the bioeconomy.
In recognition of these hurdles, and their unique position as a networking and support organisation specialising in this space, the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) is launching the Biotech Innovators accelerator programme. This exciting new offering will guide and assist a cohort of early stage companies through a series of themed expert led events and activities - an opportunity to receive guidance on best practice, direct innovation support and peer to peer learning.
Join us on Thursday 6th October to hear presentations from stakeholders with expertise in young company development. There will also be an opportunity to shape the style and content of the Biotech Innovators programme by contributing to breakout room discussions.
Most importantly, this event will kick-off the expression of interest process for spin-outs and early stage companies who would like to join the 2023 cohort.

The Bioeconomy Cluster Builder(BCB) is a three-year collaboration between the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC), Innovate UK KTN and Scottish Enterprise. The project aims to grow the Scottish bioeconomy by raising awareness of the applications and benefits of biotechnology and supporting the development of new value chains and markets for bio-based products. Using the extensive networks and knowledge of the three partner organisations, we connect the right people and resources to deliver innovation support and signposting to funding opportunities.
