Part of Curiosity Hub: a series of talks for curious minds.Darshil Shah, co-director of the Centre for Natural Material Innovation, will talk about biomimicry – learning how nature’s materials are grown and assembled to inspire beautiful, durable, and truly sustainable design solutions.
Nature has spent millions of years perfecting materials that are light, strong, tough, and inherently sustainable, such as elephant ivory, spider silk, silkworm cocoons, and pinecones. This talk explores how designers and engineers can learn from these natural systems to create buildings, vehicles, wind turbines, biodegradable plastics and more for a low-carbon future.
Doors open at 2pm and refreshments are available to purchase from The Cherry Branch café until 2.30pm.
Details for all the Curiosity Hub talks can be found on our website: https://www.cherryhintonhub.org/news/2026/curiosity-hub/
