About this Event
Dr. Hal Alper is turning the tide on the plastic crisis. Using artificial intelligence, Dr. Alper and his team are engineering enzymes—a catalyst in cells—to break down plastics in days, not centuries. Join Hot Science - Cool Talks and discover how these advances in bioengineering could transform our approach to plastic waste, protect our oceans and waterways, and pave the way to a more sustainable world.
Dr. Hal Alper holds the Cockrell Family Regents Chair in Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, where he leads for the Laboratory for Cellular and Metabolic Engineering. With a Ph.D. from MIT and extensive experience in biotech, Dr. Alper leads groundbreaking research in synthetic biology, systems biology, and protein engineering.
Arrive early and explore Cool Activities from 5:30 - 6:40! The following organizations will share exciting hands-on activities related to bioengineering, enzymes, plastics, and more! List of activities coming soon!
