September is National Biodiversity Month, and this year the City of Cockburn is putting the spotlight on birds – the winged wonders that play a vital role in our ecosystems. From Owls to endangered Black Cockatoos, our local birdlife faces growing challenges including habitat loss, introduced species, rodenticides, and disease. Throughout the month, we’ll be hosting events and workshops to help the community learn, connect, and take meaningful action to protect our feathered neighbours. Whether you’re a seasoned birdwatcher or just curious about the calls in your backyard, there’s something for everyone to get involved in. Birds not your thing? We’re also running events focused on turtles and snake safety, perfect for those keen to learn how to live alongside these often misunderstood natives.
There’s a mix of drop in and pop up events with some event registrations opening throughout September.
