At the time of application, no studies in top-tier finance journals had quantified and priced risks surrounding biodiversity loss or examined the potential role of private financing in addressing this gap. To address this challenge for this proof-of-concept project, the team are developing the first objective and data-driven valuation of two of the first biodiversity products created. Overall, this is important because philanthropy and taxpayer funds will be insufficient in addressing the financing gap require to mitigate biodiversity loss.
