To celebrate the opening of our new space, RICM is offering a special series of STEAM workshops during winter vacation week, taking place December 26th-January 3rd, for students ages 8-13.
About This Program
Students will dive into the fascinating stories of pioneering women in computer science, including Ada Lovelace and Grace Hopper. They will discover how Ada Lovelace earned her title as the world’s first computer programmer by writing early algorithms, and how Grace Hopper helped develop the first electronic computers and coined the term “bug”. Students will then explore the basics of the binary number system, learning how computers use 1s and 0s to communicate information. After that, students will design and create their very own binary code bracelet using different colored beads to spell out a custom-coded message. Ages 8-13 years.
Workshop Dates: December 26th–January 3rd
Schedule: Complete workshop details and registration information are available via the link below and in the attached flyer.
