William Crapo Durant was a dreamer who put several automobile companies together, creating General Motors—which then became the world's largest corporation. Learn how this high school dropout became worth millions and yet died penniless. The strengths and weaknesses of his personality, his family life, and his contributions to industry are all discussed. In the cycle of entrepreneurship–founder, creator, builder, manager–Durant was the consummate creator, but tragically he couldn't hold onto his creation, handing off to legendary builder and manager Alfred P. Sloan.
