Bill's 3rd Annual Bangkok Half Marathon (*25K)
November 11, 2021
Each year as part of the TBF Travel adventure vacation in Thailand, @[1215544912:2048:Bill Driskill] puts on this private event that runs through the nighttime streets of Bangkok, on a custom course devised and tested by Bill, that covers some of Bangkok's most famous attractions, as well as some unseen highlights of the most popular city in the world.
The Half Marathon course is actually 25K, or a slight bit longer, so that you can fully enjoy everything Bill has in store for you. The race will start at 3 a.m. and must be finished by 6:30 a.m.
This year the course will include the following features and attractions:
Wat Sawet
Bangkok Bridge (2nd oldest in Bangkok)
Teochew Chinese Cemetery (with 1K running path)
Wat Yannawa
Wat Traimit (home of the world's largest solid gold Buddha)
Charoen Krung Road (first road built in Bangkok)
Yaowarat Road (Chinatown)
Crossing the three moats around Rattanakosin Island
The Golden Mount (Wat Saket)
Loha Prasat (the Metal Castle Temple)
The Giant Swing
Wat Suthat
The Royal Grand Palace
Wat Pho - home of the Emerald Buddha
The Flower Market
Memorial Bridge (oldest bridge in Bangkok)
Wat Pryoon
King Taksin Monument
There will be plenty of aid stations (7-Elevens) along the way and two or three for sure bathrooms. Maybe four; I will know after test running the course in July.
The first edition in 2017 had three finishers (Bill, @[100007563481429:2048:Mark Shaw] &
@[100009805410885:2048:Jame Peters]). The 2018 event was cancelled due to injury. In 2019 there were two finishers: Bill and @[100000592240431:2048:Henry Hawkins] (pictured above). The 2020 event was cancelled due to the Covid mess.
Don't miss this chance to scribe your name in the annals of the event, go down in TBF Travel history, and have an experience you will not soon forget.
*** Must be able to maintain between 10 and 11 minute pace per mile, or you will likely get lost.
