Dr. Andrew Billingsley was one of America’s leading sociologists on race, family, and social policy. His groundbreaking 1968 book, Black Families in White America, reshaped how the nation understood African American life with pioneering research, data, history and dignity, rather than stereotypes. He went on to author numerous works on Black families, churches, and culture
Billingsley’s distinguished academic journey began at Hampton Institute and continued at:
