FOGGY OTIS
When a life-altering illness took away his ability to play guitar, Foggy turned to the ukulele for help with his rehabilitation, both physically and mentally.
In the Spring of 2008 a life-saving quadruple bypass left him with numbness, loss of dexterity and pain in his left hand from the harvesting of an artery for his heart. Foggy was no longer able to play guitar.
Enter the ukulele. With its small size, nylon strings and wider string spacing, it suited Foggy’s diminished strength. Over time he embraced the diminutive instrument’s limitations, developing his own unique style of playing.
The uke has taken Foggy to many unexpected places- countless performances, teaching college, singing his songs on SiriusXM and local radio, writing for Ukulele magazine, producing instructional videos and most recently, Foggy signed a recording contract with Verdict Music. Look for his debut album- When life hands you lemons, play the ukulele. (Deluxe Version) in early 2026.
Foggy is available for private instruction.
