Hey everybody!
Our next event will be our 2nd birthday. Time flies, right!? In honour of the occasion we've got a top quality special guest for our loyal and generous crowd to show our love and appreciation for sticking by us as we've grown.
On September 30th @tinyrebelcardiff we will be bringing you the impeccable lexical power of @tiazakura.
Tia-zakura is an interdisciplinary performance poet and theatre-maker from Cardiff. Best known for her rhythmic approach to “flowetry”, Tia can be seen blending storytelling with unique rhyming patterns on stages across the UK. Often in her work, she tackles topics such as intersectionality, feminism and inequality. In an attempt to make poetry more accessible and raise the profile for spoken-word in Cardiff, Tia regularly facilitates writing and performance workshops, as well as recently establishing the night ‘Poetic Wales’.
We'll also be opening up the stage to all of you as per usual.
With regards to the open-mic, here's what you need to know:
1. You get 5 minutes to do your thing.
2. There will be a rolling sign up throughout the night. Sign up for the first section starts at 7pm once the doors open, and the show starts at 7.30pm. You must sign up in person. We cannot take remote sign ups.
3. If you miss the sign up sections, we finish off the night with our free for all known as 'The Jazz Section'. Anybody in the crowd can grab the mic if they feel inspired to do so.
4. Hate speech and disruptive heckling will not be tolerated.
5. There will be a suggested donation policy of £3 on the night. The money raised will go towards the cost of booking more fabulous feature acts for future events. We believe that all people who work in the arts should be paid for their work. We also believe that our audience deserves the finest calibre of poetry/spoken word in return for their loyalty and generosity.
So, come on down, grab a drink, enjoy some food, show your support, and help the local scene grow in all its glory.
