Presented by Interstellar Music, Big Wheels Debut Australian tour 2023.
FRIDAY JUNE 16 - BOOTLEGGERS NEWTOWN - SYDNEY
Supported by Nana Klumpp and Civic Video
Catapulting their ethereal blend of modern-day confessional songwriting and colourful retro allure into 2023, Sydney-based soft-rock sweethearts Big Wheels are embarking on their debut national tour in May/June of this year.
The announcement coincides with the release of their latest Britpop-infused single ‘Hurricane Therapy’; their second single this year and also the next stage in the band’s already developing huge year ahead. As recipients of the Sofar Sounds (UK) Artist Residency Program, Big Wheels will be heading to the UK in July to perform at a number of artist showcase events across London and parts of Europe.
The band are set to take the stage supporting WA’s powerhouse rock band DICE, across Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and, for the first time, Adelaide. They will also be appearing at the sold out Spaced Out Festival in Brisbane as well as the newly added second date across May 13-14.
With their hometown Sydney show marking the final date on the band’s debut Australian tour, Friday June 16 at Bootleggers Newtown will be the ultimate ‘celebrational’ send off for Big Wheels as before they jetset for the UK market.
Carrying on from the band’s previous anthemic releases, ‘Hurricane Therapy’ has fast proven a fan favorite for its romantic and uplighting appeal. Often the closing track to their live shows, it’ll have you singing “I’m floating with no sympathy” before you know.
The track enters with the towering vocals of the group’s co-lead Lawson Doyle and is another 70’s inspired, wall-of-sound anthemic sing-along from the band.
Having made numerous Australian festival appearances, feature via Triple J, Artist Spotlight on BBC Radio’s Introducing segment and a live TV appearance on the ABC’s Frankly, Big Wheels have already made a strong name for themselves in the modern rock scene during their short time as a group.
