The Carbon Community will be hosting a our BIG TREE SHELTER REMOVAL on Saturday 12 April at our site near Llandovery, Wales. Join us for trees, fresh air and fun!Glandwr Forest is a new native broadleaf forest and is home to The Carbon Community’s landmark carbon study which aims to accelerate and enhance the sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in trees and soil to tackle the climate crisis. This unique field trial combines forest microbiome inoculation and enhanced rock weathering, two nature-based climate solutions which have never previously been deployed together at scale.
As the trees enter their 5th year in the field, we will be removing shelters from the largest trees in our research study. All the shelters will be collected for recycling as part of a 'closed-loop' recycling program for tree shelters.
Activities include:
🌳 Collecting Tree Shelters from the research areas.
💚 Nesting the shelters together to fit as many as possible in each recycling bag!
Our activities are suitable for ages 16+, people under 18 must bring a responsible adult. All activities are on rough terrain.

10:30 - 12:30 Tree Shelters!
12:30 - 13:30 Lunch
13:30 - 15:30 Tree Shelters!
15:30 - 16:00 Coffee & Tea at the barn to celebrate
The Carbon Community will provide tea, coffee, and lunch!
