Get to know yourself a little better while connecting others in the Rört community in this Big Mind Course:The Big Mind process is a collective mode of self-inquiry originated in Zen, inviting you to function more freely in life. The course is a series of structured dialogues between the group and the facilitator giving voice to aspects of our inner world that have been disowned or are not yet fully awakened.
The Big Mind process can be helpful if you:
1. Have trouble adjusting to major life changes
2. Feel “run by” old patterns
3. Experience internal struggle or self-criticism
4. Feel stuck in life
5. Long to belong
6. Want to deepen a spiritual practice
PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Every session is 2x60 minutes with a short break in the middle and will consist of facilitation as well as brief seated or moving meditations.
It is not possible to book single sessions, only the series as a whole.
Everyone can join, no experience is required.

MORE ABOUT BIG MIND:
The Big Mind process was invented in the 1990s by Zen master Genpo Roshi. It integrates the wisdom of eastern spiritual traditions with relational perspectives from western psychotherapy. The facilitation allows the group to explore aspects of ourselves that can hinder free functioning in life when buried or unawakened. By speaking in the first person as a “voice” rather than speaking as the self, the process allows you to externalize from your everyday frame of mind and connect to inner resources that have perhaps been disowned or unawakened.
You are always free to decide your own level of involvement and depth of sharing when attending a big mind session, sometimes just listening, sometimes sharing or working with a voice. The format of the practice uses methods from psychotherapeutic “chair work” (as seen in Voice Dialogue, Shadow work, Internal family systems, Compassion Focused Therapy, Gestalt therapy ect.). However, the Big Mind sessions at Rört are not offered as therapy groups.
Rather than self-development, Big Mind is offered as a tool for self-enquiry - allowing you to enter an open-ended exploration of your deeper nature with the support of a facilitator and the group. You need no prior knowledge of meditation, zen, psychotherapy or spirituality to participate. All you need to join is a spirit of inquiry and a bit of beginner’s mind.
ABOUT THE TEACHER
Birgitte Myoin Gorm is a psychologist (PhD) and brings 3 decades of experience to her work as a yoga and meditation teacher. Her facilitation style is informal, light-hearted and based on sharing rather than teaching. She began practicing Tibetan Buddhist meditation as a teenager in 1992 with Lakha Lama and has been in dedicated Zen training with her teacher Genpo Roshi since 2013. Birgitte received the buddhist precepts from Genpo Roshi in 2015 and ordained as a novice Zen monk in 2022. She is currently the only person in Denmark offering Big Mind facilitation based on direct and ongoing training with its source teacher.
