Nathanael Cox of BIG CHUNE has prepared a special menu for an exciting pop up hosted by Local Roots NYC. Come for the food, stay for the vibes, talk, dance, and eat with us. BIG CHUNE is a popup concept which remembers and celebrates the experience of growing up in New York City, and explores the cultural and historical nuances of Caribbean cuisine.
The menu features ingredients from Local Roots, partnering with small, local farms. Create your own plate by selecting 1 item from each category.

Red Cabbage Salad with citrus, soy walnut vinaigrette, savory granola
Plantains with caramelized onion, scotch bonnet pepper, anchovy, cashews
B.
Stew Chicken with fenugreek, white wine vinegar, and a shit ton of scallions
Ital Stew with local roots, chickpeas, butternut squash, coconut milk, pickled chicory
Each plate comes with a housemade sesame miso chocolatre chip cookie from the Local Roots kitchen and a Mount Gay Rum special cocktail.
Happy hour specials on our new Beach, Please shandy featuring AVEC all natural ginger soda with complimentary AVEC soda samples all night.
Dine indoor in the beautifully designed cafe or outdoor seating is available in the pink backyard is available. If tickets are not sold out, they will be available for purchase at the door.

About the chef:
Nathanael Cox is a Brooklyn-born artist and cook, whose work reflects on politics of cooking and eating, and how food can be contextualized to reference and address issues, people and communities. Concerned with food’s role in the formation of identity and culture, Cox’s work explores what diets and foodways are able to describe about histories.

Local Roots Market + Cafe is a Chinese Farm to Table cafe with a market featuring all local food and sustainability products.
