Embroidery is all the rage these days, and, after taking this fun, fiber-focused workshop, you’ll understand why. Not only is it an enjoyable hobby, it’s a great, economical way to zhuzh up ordinary or worn-out clothes and accessories—or decorate your home!Embroidering knits isn’t difficult, but it requires a slightly different approach than embroidering woven fabric. In this highly-meditative class, fiber artist Jeannie Thomma will introduce you to special tools and techniques that make this type of embroidering easy!
In just a few hours, Jeannie will teach you some basic embroidery stitches that you can use to embellish a favorite knit sweater or accessory, or create a "patch" or "pocket" that you can stitch to your choice of garments or frame as a keepsake.
You’ll start by sketching your own design or choosing from a collection of pre-made templates. Then, using a palette of yarn that sings to you and some beautiful embellishing stitches, you’ll settle in, enjoying the centering craft of embroidery. Before you know it, the hours will melt away, and you’ll have added some playful pop to your wardrobe or wall.
